J GROUPでは、ミャンマーの難民の子供たちへ生活費や授業料の支援を行っています。この支援を受けた子供たちからは、生活や学習に対する考え方がどのように変わったか、また近況について、子供たちからいただいた手紙の内容を掲載していきます。
厳しい環境の中でも、彼女たちの未来に希望を持ち続ける姿勢には私たちも学ぶことが多くあります。
＜Nan Yin Htayさんからの手紙＞
Every time I look through social media and read about the situation in Myanmar, I get a heavy feeling. I’m stressed, uncomfortable, and overwhelmed by sadness. Every night, I stay awake, wandering endlessly about the future. Sometimes I lose hope, wondering if I’ll ever see my country rise again, where everyone has the full freedom they deserve.
私はSNSを見るたび、ミャンマーの現状を目にして重い気持ちになります。ストレスや不安、深い悲しみに押しつぶされそうになります。毎晩、未来について考え込んでしまい、眠れない夜を過ごしています。時には希望を失い、この国が再び立ち上がり、すべての人が本来あるべき自由を手に入れる日は来るのだろうかと、思い悩むこともあります。
Today, April 27, 2025, it has been 1,546 days since the military junta took control of Myanmar. Last month, March 28, 2025 was the day Myanmar experienced one of the most devastating natural disasters in its history. A powerful earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.7, reached across Naypyidaw, Mandalay, Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Northern Shan, and even into neighboring countries like Thailand, Laos, India, and China. Just in a few minutes, the earthquake has taken so many lives and has also destroyed countless precious pieces of Myanmar’s ancient heritage. Over 3,000 people have died, and over 4,500 have been injured from the earthquake (BBC, 2025).
今日、2025年4月27日で、軍事政権がミャンマーを掌握してから1,546日が経ちました。先月、2025年3月28日、ミャンマーは歴史上最も壊滅的な自然災害の一つに見舞われました。ナイピードー、マンダレー、ザガイン、エーヤワディー、北シャン州、さらには隣国のタイ、ラオス、インド、中国にまで及ぶ、マグニチュード7.7の強い地震が発生したのです。ほんの数分のうちに、多くの命が奪われ、ミャンマーの貴重な古代遺産の数々も破壊されました。地震による死者は3,000人を超え、負傷者は4,500人以上にのぼります（BBC, 2025）。
As citizens rushed to rescue the injured and save lives with their limited resources, the military began airstrikes. On March 28th, three jets attacked a community in Nawnghkio Township, one of the earthquake-hit regions. Instead of using their strength to protect the people, the military utilized it to cause even more suffering. The conflict and airstrike attacks continue until now. Almost a month after the powerful earthquake struck Mandalay, many earthquake survivors are still unable to return to safe homes with proper shelter. Although some damaged buildings have been cleared away, most of the ruins still remain, standing as painful reminders of all that was lost. The military’s actions make it clear that they have no concern for the people. Their weapons, technology, and resources are used not for protection, but for harm. They even twist international aid for their own benefit, making it clear they have no real care or support for the people.
市民たちは限られた資源の中で懸命に負傷者を救おうとする一方で、軍は空爆を開始しました。3月28日、震災の被災地の一つであるナウンチョー郡では、軍の戦闘機3機が市民の集落を攻撃しました。人々を守るべき力が、さらなる苦しみを生むために使われているのです。紛争と空爆は今も続いています。地震発生からほぼ1か月が経った今も、多くの被災者は安全な住居や適切な避難所を手にできずにいます。一部の損壊した建物は撤去されましたが、ほとんどの瓦礫はそのまま残され、失われたものの痛ましい記憶を物語っています。軍の行動からは、彼らが国民のことを少しも考えていないことがはっきりと見て取れます。武器や技術、資源は国民を守るためではなく、傷つけるために使われ、国際的な支援すらも自らの利益のために利用する始末です。
Following the earthquake in Myanmar, I joined the Myanmar Student Organization’s efforts to raise funds for earthquake relief, both in the Walking Street Market near Mae Fah Luang University and on social media. We collected and donated not only money, but also critical food, supplies, and materials that people affected desperately needed. It was a small act compared to the suffering, but each contribution expressed our caring, hope, and solidarity with those fighting to rebuild their lives.
この地震の後、私はミャンマー学生会の募金活動に参加し、メーファールアン大学近くのウォーキングストリートマーケットやSNSを通じて募金を呼びかけました。お金だけでなく、被災者が必要としている食料や物資、生活必需品も集めて寄付しました。大きな悲しみに比べれば小さな行動かもしれませんが、ひとつひとつの支援が、被災者への思いやり、希望、そして連帯の気持ちを表していました。
In this journey of helping and healing, I know that we were not alone. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has helped Myanmar during this difficult time especially to the people of Japan. Following the latest earthquake, In times of our greatest need, Japan has always stood alongside Myanmar, offering not only donation material support but also kindness, understanding. Your generosity and help have been a true source of hope and strength for us. Knowing we’re not forgotten, thanks to your generosity, it means a lot to us. Thank you for sharing these sincere support to Myanmar and we will always be so grateful for their sincere support. Your heartfelt actions will never be forgotten, and we will always carry deep appreciation for the bond shared between our people.
この助け合いと癒しの道のりで、私たちは決してひとりではありませんでした。この困難な時期にミャンマーを支援してくださったすべての皆さま、特に日本の皆さまに、心から感謝申し上げます。今回の地震の後も、日本は物資や寄付といった支援だけでなく、温かい思いや理解をもって寄り添ってくださいました。日本の皆さまの寛大なご支援は、私たちにとって本当に大きな希望と力の源です。私たちが忘れられていないと感じられること、皆さまのご厚意に支えられていること、それがどれほど心強いか、言葉では言い表せません。日本の皆さまが示してくださった誠実なご支援に、改めて心より御礼申し上げます。その温かいお気持ちは決して忘れませんし、これからも両国の間に築かれた絆を大切にしていきたいと思います。
